1. Couples holding off on divorce during economic

Kara G. Morrison writes about how the economy is affecting divorce
in Arizona. She quotes several attorneys who seem to agree that
the number of divorces is decreasing slightly. At the same time,

2. U.S. divorce dip excludes Utah
Michael R. McFall writes about how the divorce rate is holding
steady in Utah. He also quotes an interesting statistic: "A
divorce involving at least one child usually costs anywhere from
$53,000 to $188,000 in attorney's fees, financial advice, and real
estate costs for buying or renting separate homes, according to
census data from the website Divorce360." Click

3. Child support suffers as economy suffers
Emily Ramshaw/The Dallas Morning News writes about the effect the
economy is having on child support. She says, "In a recent
survey of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, almost 40
percent of divorce attorneys reported a jump in modifications being
made to child support payments." She quotes Michelle May O'Neil,
a family law attorney in Texas who says that judges are giving financially
strapped parents temporary relief. If someone is unemployed, the
judge may give temporary reduced child support to be reviewed a
few months later. Click
